About greatsmallhomes

A journalist and architectural photographer with over thirty years of experience, Paul Franklin and his wife, Nancy, have lived in a variety of small homes over the decades. In the nineties they lived in Nova Scotia, where they built a super-insulated, passive solar, 1400 square-foot cape cod style home with in-floor heat, a built in solarium-greenhouse and a panoramic view of an ocean bay filled with three hundred islands. They have also lived aboard boats, in RV's and in a 300sq foot one room apartment perched near a cliff edge high above the North Atlantic. These days they are doing a slow green renovation of a 120 year old 1300 square foot farmhouse in a green mountain valley near Asheville, NC,
